How to Choose a Beach Wedding Dress
For a beach wedding, consider the complete dress: fabric, lining, layers, fit, hem and train. Choose for the weather, ground and amount of walking you expect on the day.
Fabrics in Heat, Humidity and Wind
A short ceremony on firm sand can call for a different plan from a full day outdoors in humid weather. Compare the finished gown rather than choosing by fabric name alone.

Check coverage at the bodice and skirt separately. The number and type of lining layers affect transparency; ask about the particular gown and look at daylight photographs where possible.
Hem Length Against Sand
Full length, barefoot
Tell the studio which shoes you plan to wear, including whether you will be barefoot for part of the day. Follow the measurement guide and discuss any change of shoes before the hem is decided.
Ankle or tea length
A shorter hem can make walking easier. Check the finished length with your planned shoes and the ground at your venue.
A short sweep train
A train may need carrying or arranging on sand. Consider its length and make a plan for walking, photographs and dancing.
For Custom Made, follow the measurements requested for your gown and include the shoes you plan to wear. If you choose a standard size, allow time to check the hem during a fitting after delivery.

What Actually Fails at a Beach Ceremony
Strapless bodices. Check the support and fit of the particular bodice. During a fitting, sit, walk and raise your arms; discuss straps or changes with the studio if you want them.
Long veils. Wind can affect a veil of any length. Try the attachment with your hairstyle and plan how to remove or secure it when needed. Browse wedding veils and compare the lengths with your plans.
Fixed-size gowns. Compare your measurements with the size chart and allow time for a fitting. Custom Made is a separate sizing option; confirm any design changes before ordering.
Unfinished hems on the underside. Check the finished hem and lining length. Ask how to handle the train or lift the skirt when walking over sand.
Flying With the Dress
Carry it on
Check your airline’s current baggage rules and the space available for a garment bag. Do not rely on access to a crew wardrobe unless the airline has confirmed it.
Roll, do not fold
Ask the studio how to pack your particular gown, including its lace, lining and trims. Follow those instructions when choosing a garment bag or packing materials.
Hang it on arrival
Allow time to unpack the gown after arrival and follow its care instructions. Do not assume that bathroom steam, a steamer or an iron is suitable for every fabric or trim.
One more piece of timing. A made-to-measure gown takes five to six weeks in our atelier, plus three to seven business days by DHL or UPS Express, with duties and taxes prepaid where they are shown at checkout. For a destination wedding we ask brides to order at least three months out, so the dress is in your hands well before you pack, not waiting for you at a hotel desk.
