Measurement Guide
How to Measure Yourself for a Custom Wedding Dress
The secret to a perfect fit is in 6 simple measurements.
Don't worry - we'll guide you through every step, and Shany personally reviews every order before production begins.
You'll Need
- A soft, flexible measuring tape (not a metal one)
- A friend or family member to help (much easier than measuring yourself!)
- Wear the underwear and shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day
- Pen and paper (or your phone) to record measurements
The 6 Measurements We Need
1. Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.
Breathe normally - don't suck in or push out.
2. Waist
Bend to the side - the crease that forms is your natural waist.
Measure around that point, keeping the tape comfortably loose.
3. Hips
Stand with your feet together.
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom (usually 7-9 inches below your waist).
4. Height
Stand barefoot against a wall. Measure from the floor to the top of your head.
5. Hollow-to-Hem
This is the most important measurement!
From the hollow of your collarbone (the soft spot at the base of your throat) down to where you want the dress to fall, while wearing your wedding shoes.
Walk in your shoes first to find your perfect length.
6. Heel Height
The exact height of the shoes you'll wear on your wedding day - this affects the hem length precisely.
Sizing Conventions
All measurements should be in inches or centimeters - just be consistent.
Measure twice. Then once more.
If you're between sizes, always send the larger measurement - we can take in, not let out.
