Here is what to look for, and what to avoid.
Fabric decides everything
Heavy materials — structured satin, dense lace, rigid boning — turn uncomfortable fast in heat and sea air. What you want is something light enough to move with the wind instead of fighting it.
What works
- Lightweight chiffon. Falls straight, moves in a breeze, and weighs almost nothing.
- Lace over a chiffon base. Our most-ordered beach combination. Texture on top, airflow underneath.
- Fine French lace on its own. Woven lace breathes far better than a lined bodice does.
What to avoid
- Heavy structured satin
- Thick, rigid boning
- Polyester, which traps heat against the skin
- Dense lace with no breathable layer underneath

Hem and length on sand
Sand is the enemy of a sweeping skirt. Two approaches work:
- Floor length with a high slit, which keeps fabric off the ground as you walk and gives you a leg to move with. See the high slit gowns.
- Floor length cut short for your actual height, measured in the shoes you will wear — or barefoot, if that is the plan. This is where made to measure earns its keep, because a standard hem assumes a heel you may not be wearing.
A cathedral train makes striking photographs and needs a person assigned to it for the whole ceremony. Decide whether you want to give someone that job.
Comfort over a whole day
Beach weddings mean bare feet or sandals, uneven ground, and sitting down on sand at some point. The dress has to let you do all of it without thinking about it.

Getting it there
If you are flying, the dress has to travel. Chiffon and light lace pack far better than structured fabrics — another argument for the lighter build.

Five to six weeks to sew, then three to seven business days by express courier. If you are travelling, order early enough that the gown reaches you well before you fly, not at the destination.
