One question reaches our inbox more than any other. "I love the dress, but how do I know it will fit? I have never ordered a wedding dress online before."
It is the right question. Here is the process, step by step, and what happens at our end during each part of it. We have filled 584 orders through the Etsy shop since 2016, for brides across the US, UK, Germany and Australia, and the process below is what those orders went through.
Step 1: browse, and save more than you think you need
Spend real time with the collection. Save the gowns you keep returning to, and look at how each one photographs from several angles — a good gown holds up from behind and in profile, not only head-on. Start with the boho gowns, or see everything we make.
Step 2: take your measurements
This is the step that decides the outcome. Five numbers: bust, waist, hips, height, hollow-to-hem. Use a soft tape, wear the underwear you plan to wear on the day, and get someone to help — measuring yourself is where most errors come from.

Step 3: order, and say what you want changed
Choose the gown, enter your measurements, and pick your changes: neckline, sleeve length, back coverage, lining colour, slit. You can also put the bodice of one gown on the skirt of another — ask first so we can confirm the combination works. See the range in the made-to-measure collection.
Step 4: Shany reads your numbers, then we cut
Before anything is cut, Shany reads your measurements against each other. If one does not agree with the rest, she writes to you. This is the step that makes ordering remotely work at all, and it is why we ask you to send the numbers rather than pick a size.
Then five to six weeks of sewing, with progress photographs from the studio along the way.
Step 5: it ships
DHL or UPS Express, fully insured, three to seven business days. Duties and taxes are prepaid where they are shown at checkout, so the total you saw is the total you pay.
From placing the order to the dress hanging in your wardrobe, plan on about ten weeks to be comfortable.
Questions
How do I know it will fit if I cannot try it on?
Because it is built to your numbers rather than to a sample size, and because Shany checks those numbers before cutting. That gets you far closer than any sample. A hem or a strap may still want a local adjustment when it arrives, which is normal for any wedding dress.
Can I change the design?
Yes. Neckline, sleeves, back coverage, lining, slit, or elements combined from two gowns. It is part of the order, not an extra.
How long will it take?
Five to six weeks to sew, plus three to seven business days to ship. Order at least ten weeks before the wedding if you can.
Will I owe customs when it arrives?
Duties and taxes are prepaid where they are shown at checkout, so nothing extra is normally due. A few destinations still apply local charges — ask and we will confirm yours before you order.
