Why lace holds up in natural light
Garden ceremonies happen in the light photographers actually want. That is good for you and demanding on the dress, because natural light reveals fabric — the depth of the weave, the sharpness of the pattern, the way it moves when air moves.
French lace does something specific in that light. The woven pattern throws small shadows, so a camera reads texture rather than a flat white shape. It is the single biggest reason lace gowns dominate outdoor weddings. Look at the vintage lace gowns and you can see it.
Movement matters more outdoors
A garden ceremony usually means walking on grass, often over uneven ground, and often down a longer aisle than an indoor venue gives you.

If you are going flat — common at garden weddings, and no bad thing — tell us when you order, because the hem is cut to your height in the shoes you will actually wear.
