You find the dress. Flowing lace, sheer sleeves. That undone romantic look you've had in your head since the engagement.
Then you see the price: $3,500, and alterations aren't in it yet.
Here is what that number is mostly paying for, and it isn't the lace. Showroom rent in a district chosen for foot traffic. Commission for the stylist who ran your appointments. The wholesale margin between the designer and the shop. The name on the label. The gown itself — the fabric, the hours of sewing — is a smaller share of that price than most brides assume.
Once you know that, a good boho gown on a real budget stops being a compromise. It becomes a question of who you buy from.
What a boutique price is actually made of
- Showroom rent, in a location chosen for passing traffic rather than for you
- Commission for the stylist who runs your fittings
- The wholesale margin between designer and boutique
- Alterations, which US bridal shops commonly quote in the hundreds on top of the gown, because a sample almost never fits as it is
None of that goes into better lace or a straighter seam. It is the cost of selling a dress, not of making one.
What we charge, and why
We design, sew and ship from one studio in Israel. No boutique, no distributor, no wholesale layer in between.
So here are the actual numbers rather than a range built to sound reassuring. Gowns start at $829. The median gown in the collection is $949. Of the 59 wedding dresses we currently make, 54 are under $1,000 in standard sizing. Five sit above it, and one — the most heavily worked vintage lace design — reaches $1,399.
Made to measure adds about $100 to most gowns. That is the entire custom premium.
What you get at $829
The entry price is not a stripped-back version of what we make. Same studio, same lace, same hands.
- Sewn by hand in French or vintage lace over chiffon or tulle
- Cut to your bust, waist, hip, height and hollow-to-hem if you choose made to measure. Shany reviews every set of measurements before the lace is cut
- Your choice of neckline, back coverage, sleeve style, lining colour and slit
- DHL or UPS Express, with duties and taxes prepaid where they are shown at checkout
The lightest options are in lace and chiffon gowns and the full boho collection. They are all made the same way.
Where to spend, and where not to
Pick a flowing silhouette over a structured one. Chiffon and lace overlays cost less to make than boning and layered underskirts, and on a boho gown they look better anyway.
Let the lace carry the dress. A good French lace pattern reads richer in photographs than beading does, and beading is what drives a price up fastest.
Order to your measurements. It will not always remove alteration costs, since a hem or a strap may still want adjusting locally, but it removes the guesswork that makes those bills large.
And buy direct. That is the whole argument of this page.
Questions brides ask
Is a wedding dress under $1,000 actually good?
Ours are, and 54 of our 59 gowns sit there. The price is low because nothing stands between our studio and your door, not because the lace is cheaper. Put the fabric next to a gown at three times the price and the difference is the label.
How does sizing work if I cannot try it on?
You send five measurements — bust, waist, hip, height, hollow-to-hem — and we send an illustrated guide showing how to take them. Shany reads every set herself and writes to you if one number looks off against the others. That happens more often than you would think, and catching it before cutting is the point.
Will there be customs charges or an alterations bill?
Duties and taxes are prepaid where they are shown at checkout, so what you pay is what you pay. On alterations: a made-to-measure gown starts far closer to your body than an off-the-rack sample, so there is usually much less work to do. It is not a fitting room, though. A minor local adjustment is occasionally still worth making, and we would rather say so now than after it arrives.
How long does it take?
Five to six weeks to sew, then three to seven business days by DHL or UPS Express. If your date is close, message us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
